Open day at the software company P3 Bulgaria and the Technical Engineering Center of Festo in Gabrovo

On 28.05.2024, the First Open Day was held at the software company P3 Bulgaria and the Technical Engineering Center of Festo in Gabrovo. The event took place at the Scientia Business Complex courtesy of the hosts. More than 50 students and teachers from TU Gabrovo from the specialties “Software and Computer Engineering” (SKI), “Communication Technologies and Cybersecurity” (KTKS), “Automatics, Robotics, Computer and Control Systems” (ARKUS), “Industrial and Automotive Electronics” (PAE), “Computer Management Systems” (KST), etc., visited the offices of the two companies, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. D. Genkov and Prof. Dr. Eng. S. Sadinov, Dean of ” Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering”

Under the motto “Driving Our Future” at the Technical Engineering Center of Festo, Gabrovo, Eng. Krasimir Gichev, head of the unit in Gabrovo, welcomed the representatives of future engineers and their teachers, assuring them that Festo will definitely stand behind the organization of educational initiatives, which have added value to both today and tomorrow.

“The purpose of today’s meeting is to show and visualize our activity, first by telling how and in what way we do things, and then by showing you the programs, installations and modern techniques and equipment, including devices and software products, which are the basis of the production of high-tech products under the Festo brand. Only in this way will we be part of positive changes in the industry and in society, in order to promote sustainability and improve the well-being and development opportunities of people in the city, the region, the country and the world”, added Mr. Gichev. During the meeting, the activities in the areas of Hardware, Software and SWTesting were presented. During the theoretical part, the focus was on the history and sustainable development in the field of industry of the company, which is a visionary in the world of industry.

Work with the Festo Automation Suite was demonstrated by parametrizing and controlling the CMMT-AS. The different modes of operation of a servo drive were also shown, as well as the different ways of switching the communication interfaces of the CMMT-MP devices.

This was followed by a simulation of the control of the CMMT-AS through a PLC program, as well as a presentation of the laboratory measurement technique that the Festo team in Gabrovo is developing.

During the tour of the modern office and laboratory areas, the guests had the opportunity to ask direct questions to colleagues Marijan Nyagolov, Georgi Syarov, Petar Nenchev, Ivan Stoyanov, Velichko Lefterov, Valeri Petkov, Daniel Lene, Krasimir Petkov and Daniel Zdravkov.

In the software company P3 Bulgaria, the students had the opportunity to touch the work process and daily life of a software developer. Todor Todorov, head of the team in Gabrovo, explained what the different positions and opportunities for development in the company are, as well as the respective responsibilities. Students were given guidance on entry-level development in programming and learned what a common career path is in the field.

P3 Bulgaria has many years of experience with a well-established internship program that prepares students to start their careers and gives them the opportunity to continue their development within the company. In the future, the program will also be held in Gabrovo, and TU students have the advantage of already being familiar with the process.

The meeting went through many emotions and questions from the students and was closed in the training center of the company by Prof. S. Sadinov, where many interesting forums will be held, to which students and teachers from TU-Gabrovo will be invited.
